Summer IS crazy!
We haven't really gotten any work done on our album lately, so we decided to put our friends to work... Alkalyne did a killer summer-y disco-remix of a track that's gonna be on our forthcoming album. The remix is killer! We also put our great friend and sometime guitar collaborator Ove of Graceskull fame to work, he wrote beautiful lyrics to a tune we couldn't get to work... Check both tunes out on our MySpace, and have a nice summer! (Andy J.)
|

| |
Yeee-haw! While we've been laying low for a while, it has apparently become all the rage to rip off parts of our songs... We heard Paul McCartney's new-ish song Dance Tonight and could not help noticing an uncanny similarity to the verses of our song "C'mon Baby", check for yourselves:
Dance Tonight
C'mon Baby
But as if that wasn't enough, Finland's own Mr. Pop Idol, Antti Tuisku's new single, "Ei Aikaa" has a chorus that's pretty much our "Summer Love"s chorus.Don't believe us? Check 'em out:
Ei Aikaa
Summer Luv
...inspired by all this ripping off and plagiarism, we've recorded a cover of The Posies' "Chainsmoking in the USA for the forthcoming tribute album, "Beautiful Escape: The Ultimate Tribute to The Posies that Burning Sky Records is gonna release sometime next year. You should check out our cover, as well, it's also on our MySpace page:
The Sugarrush on MySpace
That's all for tonite folks, we're heading back to the studio to start recording vocals and adding a few overdubs on our forthcoming album... (Andy J.)
|

| |
Hau!
The long-awaited sessions for our third full-length album are finally about to start: We've booked Studio 57 for a few days in July, and are hoping to record the basic tracks there! We're also possibly gonna appear on a tribute album done in honor of one of our biggest influences, more on that, too, later... (Andy J.)

Hello all you good people! We've been offline, we've been lazy and we've been bad, but all that's about to change... Starting this coming friday, when yours truly is playing some of my favourite songs from the 90's on an acoustic guitar at Sky Bar! (Andy J.)

WE HAVE A GIG ON FRIDAY! ----------->
Come to Fontana, you cool cats and hot dogs or stay at home with your radio.

SORRY! Fridays Oulu gig has been cancelled. Dont blame us, blame someone else. Och samma på svenska. Perjantain Oulun keikka on peruttu meistä riippumattomista syistä. Olemme pahoillamme ja valmiita uuteen Oulu-yritykseen milloin tahansa. (Coma)

Extra extra!! Stop the press!! Major updates!! ...well, sorta. We've swapped out a lot of the songs on our MySpace, and one of them's a song many of you might have heard at our gigs and recognize, but as it's only been available on a compilation put together by our australian friends, Popboomerang Records, not many of you actually HAVE it on CD. The song in question is "Bootycall", and keeping with the theme "Songs we've played the hell out of live", the other new additions are "Sunkisst" and "23". Check them out!

 Check me out! (Andy J.)

As we kinda told you before, we're heading to Great Britain, Liverpool, this spring for the legendary International Pop Overthrow- festival, where we're playing two gigs, one at the legendary Cavern Club and one at a nearby pub called... Well, the Cavern Pub, what else? Joining us among others will be our fellow finns Ben's Diapers and Janne Lehtinen of Mummypowder fame. We're getting really excited about this... Also, the new record is taking shape nicely, we've had a couple of power-rehearsals and hammered the songs into form, so we're excited about that, too! We're a bunch of little excited bunnies, us! (Andy J.)

Notta Terve! It's been a while since the last entry, but it doesn't mean that nothing's happening in the so damn crazy and allways so wild and free Sugarrush world. If everything goes as planned, we'll play some gigs outside Finland this spring. We'll tell you more of that, when everything's confirmed. And we even got our minds made up of those 14 songs that we want to get on tape once we get to the studio. And we shure hope it won't take too long to get there... And the 14 songs are: 1. Woahhi 2. Yeahhi 3. California 4. Cure-riffi 5. Fame 6. Lonely Days 7. VPS 8. Going to Town 9. One in a Million 10. Possujuna 11. Look So Easy 12. Grazy Motherfucker 13. Just Do It 14. Tired of Waiting And like you probably noticed, these really are working titles... Take care ja muuta pientä purtavaa (Coma)

Happy happy happy New Year everybody, and gigantic thanks to everybody who came to see us last night at Sky, you guys sure rocked! Thank you also to DeeeeJay Lapa, who provided percussion, synth, bg vocals and comical relief throughout the gig! Now we're off arranging the songs for our forthcoming album, but before that, in case you haven't already purchased our latest EP, do it here. Kissy kiss. (Andy J.)

Boys and girls. You who like cute boys with big butts, come and see us and the ARK play in Amarillo, Vaasa, this friday. And if you don't have our EP yet, you better buy it from us after the gig or we'll call your mom. (Coma)

Chingaling!
Happy Birthday El Gringo, once more. We played an surprise gig in Vaasa’s very own El Gringo on Tuesday night. They had a birthday party, the place was packed and we rocked like fuck. We even got the whole thing on film, with three different cameras that is, so maybe we’ll put some clips on these pages from the show. Thanks for LightMormooni and the camera boys and girls. Later!

It's been a while, hasn't it? We haven't been resting on our laurels, though. A bunch of new rocking tunes in our back pocket, we're planning on recording our next full-length album. We've also got a "secret" gig coming up, keep your eyes open... Yours truly has also been quenching his jones for 90's-tinged-indie with Ove from Graceskull, we're calling ourselves Royal Piss and making an awful racket!
Also, check out our MySpace, there's a coupe of tunes there, and we'll be changing those every once in a while, maybe even some unreleased gems find their way into cyberspace sooner or later...
 Check me out! (Andy J.)

Thank you boys and girls for coming to the show last thursday night. Even though our showtime was late, very late, you were still there. I wonder how many of you got to work or school on time on friday...
If you are in to football or not so sporty rockstars playing football, you should come to Vaasa City's very on Monitoimiviheriö this weekend. It's the legendary Rock Futis SM and Paati and me are playing with Vaasa's FC Welmu. Or atleast Paati will play. I'll probably just sit on the grass and keep my thumbs up. Later! (Coma)
|

| |
OK suckas! We're getting off our lazy asses and are actually going to play a gig, so come see us next thursday, if you're anywhere near Vaasa! (Andy J.)

We want the airways! If everything goes like planned this time, I will be Nick Triani's guest on his radio show at radio helsinki this thursday. The show starts 19.00 and once again I promised to bring some records and even an acoustic guitar with me. Scary. And Ben's Diapers will be on the show too. Remember that you can listen to Nick's show via internet even in Sundom. Or where ever you might be on thursday night. So Nikki Sixx tomorrow, Nick on thursday and Rovaniemi on friday and saturday. Later boys and girls. (Coma)

Here's another rave review of the EP, from the nice people at noise.fi. Have you already bought yerself the EP? (Andy J.)
|

| |
Hello, all you lightly-clad ladies! Ahh, springtime, what can you say? I'll start by saying thank you to all the people who showed up at our gig in Hämeenlinna, you were great! A big thanks to Likeminded, who along with being great, too, arranged the whole shebang. In the course of one night we managed to break two records: apparently this was this year's biggest crowd in Hälläpyörä, and several witnesses say that never has anyone played quite as loud in there as we did... Motörhead, anyone? Quite a few people bought themselves our newish EP after the gig, but we've got plenty left... Run to yer nearest record store, or order it direct from Kinkt, just make sure you get it! And don't miss our upcoming show in Papin Nenä, we're planning some surprises... (Andy J.)

I was supposed to be Nick Triani's guest tonight at his show in Radio Helsinki, but the show is cancelled. There are some good reason's, so don't take any herneitä to your small noses. OK? I'm sure we'll have a new try in few week's. (Coma)

And one more Useless Information review. This one is from Soundi magazine. And it's in finnish. Thank's to Antti for the kind words.
The Sugarrush
Useless Information (Kinkt)
Antti Luukkanen
Viiden rykäisyn ep todistaa kompaktisti, miksi The Sugarrushiin on helppo ihastua. 90's (Salute) paketoi kolmeen minuuttiin niin Sladea kuin klassista power poppia. Samaa bilenostatusta on näppärässä Weekend Warriorissa, mutta varttitunnin sulavin siivu on silti isompaa pop-estetiikkaa hyväkseen käyttävä nimikappale, jota Firevisionista tutun Mikko Tammisen syntsat vetävät piirun verran valtavirtaan päin.

More Useless Information EP reviews!; SUE: The Sugarrush: Useless Information EP - Hormonihyrrä käy huippukierroksilla 8/10. Also Rumba, made a pleasant review! The print media rocks! :D On another great note, Radio Helsinki has been playing the EP more and more. Now it's Nick, Lasse and also Sami Haikio (of Hawaii Sounds fame), who have been showing us some love by filling the airwaves with beautiful music! We'll show them love right back right now! We <3 U! Ciao eli moi! I just got a call from Mr. Nick Triani from Radio Helsinki and I was invited to his show next thursday (21.04.) Show will start 7 o'clock in the evening, that is. Ben's Diapers will also be as guests at that very same show so I think you should listen to it.
I will play some of my favorite records, and I guess I even promised to Mr. Triani to play some songs live. That's just me and my Yamaha guitar then.
And remember that you babes can listen to Radio Helsinki via internet where ever you are. Later! (Coma)

All hail the great musiclovers that have been loving The Sugarrush! Miettinen @ Kitarama has been playing the EP a lot on YleX and YleQ! He also provided the best quote ever: "The guitarist seems to be bald." :D We love him to bits! Stara.fi: Useless Information EP 4/5 The groovy web-zine Stara.fi gave a raving review on the EP. They will get our love back for those kind words! Also the phenomenal DJ's @ Radio Helsinki have still been playing the EP and spreading the love! Lots of hugs and kisses to Nick Triani and Lasse Kurki By the way, if you hate The Sugarrush, you can channel your rage by requesting them on Paskalista, who promise only to play the shittest songs in the known universe.. :) (Webmaster)

Infotainment! Check out this lil' promo clip that the executive producer Mikko Tamminen stitched together. These shenanigans were not actually filmed during the Useless Information sessions as one might guess but a couple of weeks back when the boys were demoing new material for their upcoming album at Petting Room studios with the aforementioned exec producer and his cohort Arttu Peljo. Hello there, little critters! A big thank you to all who came to see us on saturday, you were great! We had helluvalot fun on stage, the sound was surprisingly good despite the fact that we played underneath what was basically a giant aquarium... Support your local shopping mall! Even Zen Cafe rocked hard. They turned out to be genuinely nice guys, too, and were eager to meet us, as our friend Maako had been singing the praises of our band. Thanks Maako, spread the gospel! Now get out and go buy the EP!!! (Andy J.)

Hello mates! You can help The Sugarrush out by requesting the song "Useless Information" (or your other favourite Suggies-tune from the new EP) from these lovely Radio-stations:YleX, Radio X3M, Radio SuomiPop, Radio Helsinki and even the great Radio Vaasa. Apparently the gig on saturday was a huge success, but I'll let the boys give you their version on the whole shebang. (Webmaster)

Hiyas! The EP is already available (at least) from these lovely www-shops. Platta, Stupido, Airon Musiikki, Free Record Shop and CDON.COM. Bless them. However, the official Kinkt-opinion is that you should get your ass to a record store yourself. That's the best way to spend your hard earned cash, and you should be able to get some fresh air while you're at it! (Webmaster)
|

| |
Pheww! The release of the EP is just five days away! Be sure to visit your local record-shop next friday! All the orders from the Kinkt-website will also be sent as soon as possible for those of you living outside of Finland. (Webmaster)

More web-based recognition for the release. This time it's Lupatarkastaja, a great Mp3-blog in finnish/bits of english. Also It's A Trap, which is an incredible site by Avi Roig, who loves scandinavian music. He's from San Francisco, however he's never been IN Scandinavia.. Big up to him and his site! (Webmaster)

Ok, so we've chosen a different way of promoting our forthcoming EP: We're gonna "perform" as the backing band of our dear friends and producers, Firevision at the Finnish semi-finals of this year's Eurovision Song Contest!! ...talk about "indie credibility". It's gonna be great, don't forget to watch! 11/2/05!!

New year, new moves! Last saturday's gig in Seinäjoki was the first one with our latest guitar-wielding sidekick, Frankie Magnum, (aka Tom Jones)! Apparently his predecessor Simo Hovari went Spinal Tap on us and died... Something to do with copious amounts of chinese meatballs... If you want to see Frankie rock out with his tongue out, come see us in Tampere or Turku next week, it might be your last chance, we wear out guitarists fast these days... We promise to bring fresh T-shirts along (good news to all you who have ordered...) and the new EP will be ready and cooking within weeks! (Andy J.)
|

| |
Sadly, our Donington gig got cancelled, 'cause apparently both the Crüe and Twisted Sister are back... On a more serious note, I should have the mastered version of our forthcoming EP in my hands anyday now, start holding your breath... Merry X-mas folks, see you on New Year's Eve in Amarillo! (Andy J.)
|

| |
Tampere City. Tonight. We hope to see you there. (Coma)
|

| |
Ok, not a lot updating going on here, we've been, um, busy? Sorry to all who've ordered T-shirts, our supply ran out, new ones are in the making and on their way soon enough. The new EP is waiting to be mastered and... What else? Dunno. Later! (Andy J.)
|

| |
Hello boys and girls. How are you all doing? We are doing just dandy. I'm here to remind you to come and see us play this weekend in Turku (Päiväkoti) on friday and in Vaasa (Club 25) on saturday. We'll beat the sweet shit out of you, and that's a promise. And our new EP, that we got on tape this summer, was mixed last weekend. We will hear the results of the session any day now. LATER! (Coma)
|

| |
Out of the studio, pretty happy with the results, though the EP's not due to be mixed until next month. Right now we're preparing for our gig in Mikkeli, looks like we might even get around to rehearsing before this one... Take care, girls! (Andy J.)
|

| |
OK, all you little cretins. You think we've been busy playin' streetgolf and doing nuthin' Sugarrush- related, but boy, were you WRONG! We're gonna drag our firm little bottoms down (or actually up) to a studio next week, so chances are you guys'll have some new noise buzzing in your ears sometime soon... Speaking of new noise, we've been forced to part ways with our longtime axemeister extraordinaire, gigging guitarist Harri Keitele. It seems the Finnish army couldn't do without him... Taking his place mid-stage will be an old friend of ours, Simo Hovari. The first time you'll see his fingers dance around the fretboard will be in Mikkeli, 23/7. How 'bout that? (Andy J.)
|

| |
On a more positive note, it's only 2 days 'til our Choose Life extravaganza, and I've got the German lyrics memorized, borrowed me an 80's guitar and am overall excited about it all! Yesterday we even recorded a rocking intro
to start the show, how cool is that? C U in Amarillo on friday!!
(Andy J.)
|

| |
Ok, so they're trying to piss off the bald guy? They're damn well succeeding... A quick recap to all you folks not living in Vaasa; the city is planning to plane down pretty much the only decent rehearsal-studio-complex-thingy in town. We don't want them to do that, do we? Thought so, so go here and sign the form!

Since the boys seem too modest to tell this, the Webmaster must take matters into own hands and announce a special Vappuaatto spectacle called Choose Life that the Sugarrush are a part of. Choose Life is an ensemble of seven musicians from Firevision, Graceskull and our very own Superjussi, and their mission is to rock the very best hits the Eighties had to offer in Vaasa's Amarillo on April 30th. If you're quick you can ask the boys if they could play you're favourite tune by clicking yourself onto the project's website: mokomaki.com/chooselife (Webmaster)
|

| |
'Ssup? Be sure to visit the website for our upcoming 80's extravaganza,Choose Life, also featuring our dear friends from Graceskull and Firevision. L8r!
Don't forget to come to our gig @ Royal Night on Good Friday!
(Andy J.)

Boys and girls. How are you? Great, so are we. Writing new songs, trying to find a place where to get them on tape and dreaming of streetgolf. If you visit rocknrolltoy.net you will find some new and beatiful pictures from our latest Turku and Tampere gigs. (Coma)

Veni, vidi, vici. Thanks to any and all who came to the shows, C ya in april! (Andy J.)

POIS!! Siis siitä koneen äärestä, ja juoksujalkaa Papin Nenän eteen jonottamaan, keikka alkaa justiinsa! In case you're not finnish, you're probably not coming anyways... (Andy J.)
|

| |
You say we're Super, but we feel like a Miljonääri! Thanks Tampere, thanks Telakka, Thanks Rollstons and thanks George Lee!!( and sorry 'bout the things we broke...) The gig we played wuzn't among our best, but enough people seemed to have liked it, so what the heck... We promise to be a bit tighter this Friday in Papin Nenä, though. Besides checking out George Lee, should you ever get the chance, do check out Graceskull in Club 25 this Saturday, where the rhythm section will be yours truly on bass and Paati on drums. See you on Friday, then! (Andy J.)
|

| |
Boys and girls! We hope to see you all at Telakka, Tampere, tomorrow, where we'll be rocking out some new songs and what not. And if you are on a date or something and can't come to Telakka, you'll have another chance to see us live in our hometown Vaasa next weekend. And the name of the place is and will be Papin Nenä. (Coma)
|

| |
We'll play our traditional new year's eve's gig at Vaasa's very own Amarillo even this year. This time it will be an acoustic adventure through our old and new hits. Or something. So see you there jos ei sokeis tulla. (Coma)
|

| |
Hey Ya! A big hug to everyone who showed up on Saturday. I was kinda sceptic before the gig as to whether the crowd would appreciate our brand of loud rocking, but boy did they prove me wrong! It was the best crowd we've had in a while, extra thanks to Andy for singing along, even to the tunes we haven't even recorded yet. We received our copies of "Planet of the Popboomerang", and boy, were we in great company! The Lolas
, Joe Algeri
, a.k.a DJ Ripuli etc., etc. It's out on Australia's Popboomerang Records, "Bootycall", (our song, not All Saints') is on it, check it out! Also, we've been out of fresh T-shirts for a while now, and I know some of you have waited in vain for stuff you've ordered. Don't worry, we're printing new tees this week, and everything will be just dandy. (Andy J.)
|

| |
Hello girls and boys! We will rock our little asses off this saturday in our hometown Vaasa. The venue is a local discoteque Papin Nenä. Showtime is 24.00. We will even have some new hits in the setlist. See you all there! (Coma)
|

| |
Aaight biatches, back for the attack! Last saturdays gig went just dandy, what with the stage being SOMEWHAT tilted to the right and yours truly losing his voice mid-set (thus making "VPS" somewhat unlistenable, sorry guys!) We were even joined onstage by some of the birthday boys for a rousing rendition of our UG classic "Jee jee"... We're eager to start recording some of these new hits, the newest of which was tested this saturday (with success, I might add). I guess that'll have to wait, though, 'til our producer-to-be is ready with his projects that are of a somewhat more domestic nature... (Andy J.)
|

This Saturdays gig in Helsinki (Ravintolalaiva Wäiski) will be free for everyone. So you don't have to be invited to the party that is happening earlier same night. Our showtime will be after 22.00. See you in Helsinki then. (Coma)
|

| |
Hello boys and girls. The boys of summer have been busy playing streetgolf, breaking/playing guitars and doing a lot of nothing. But there is one thing you should be awere of. That thing is called Karabastu. Andy J., Paati, Ove and me are going to play some gigs inside Ove's old car. Or atleast Andy, Ove and I will be inside that not-so-big Volkswagen Polo and Paati will be playing drums on the roof of that car. So if you are somewhere around Vaasa next Thursday, come and see us play. (Coma)
|

| |
Laukaus, laukaus! Not much musical activity happening this weekend, besides Paati joining forces with Jocke and them Leopold Delloria-lads for some Kent-tribute shows in Vaasa and Kristiinankaupunki. On sunday, after checking out this week's WWE action we headed to Amarillo, where Creamstar were supporting our old pals Lemonator. The sharpish sound prevented me from fully enjoying Creamstar's new songs, but everybody else seemed to love 'em. More power to you guys! Then Lemonator took the stage, and totally blew everyone away. It was the greatest gig I've seen in a while, with this drunken dude in front of the stage claiming Lemonator the best band to play in Vaasa in a hundred years... Lasse even dedicated a song from their first album, "Over Now", to us and our "questionable mental health". Questionable?... The rest of the evening was spent in party mode, ignoring the fact that it was Sunday. It seems lately we've spent more time partying with other musicians than actually playing music -this must be the Rock'n'Roll lifestyle, then. (Andy J.)

What is the name of this guy from that TV serie called Dawson’s Creek? Well anyway, there is a guy called Vesa living in Jyväskylä, Finland who look’s just like this guy. Dawson? Is he Dawson? Probably. This boy called Vesa who looks just like Dawson has a great website called One Chord To Another. And Vesa has written a little review of our new split single that we did with Joe Algeri. Go and check it out. Thank you. (Coma)

Whussup? Our weekend with Mr. Algeri, nowadays known as DJ Ripuli and them Small-Dick Bastards otherwise known as Ben's Diapers behind us, I can't help hoping it wouldn't be. We had hella fun! Our gig in Vaasa was the funnest we've had in a while, although more people coulda showed up, and while the gig in Turku was a bit more subdued due to the fact that we couldn't hear ourselves properly on stage, we still had a good time. The rockingest part of the evening still was when Ben's were joined onstage by Joe. Rarely if ever have the Diapers rocked so hard! Earlier, during his solo show, Joe changed the lyrics in his song "Sugar Rush" to match our outfits, and they came out somewhat, erm, homoerotic. The sentences Joe must've used the most during this weekend have to be "I'm not gay" and "DeeJay Rrrripuli!" The afterparty in Turku was great, although the guy from Laihia talking finnish to Joe in Vaasa was hilarious, too... The official soundtrack of the "tour" wuz definitely the Only Ones' "Another Girl, Another Planet" as sung by Joe. The night between saturday and sunday turned out to be one massive singalong, with much abuse to Joe's beautiful Martin acoustic... "Piippolan vaarilla oli Ben's Diapers"... Also, if you've never seen an australian in a cold sauna, you have not lived... Thanks Jyrki and Mikko for the party! P.S. Go buy the 7"!!! It's great!!! Joe's songs are amazing, even with the "straight" lyrics!!! P.P.S. I am now listening to the new Cardigans album, bought it today and it's fokken amazing! Oh yeah, Mikko: Weezer's "Take Control" IS the best song of 2002!! P.P.P.S. Still sitting there? Go buy the damn 7"!!!!! (Andy J.)

After the lengthy wait, the boys are finally out with some new songs! The Sugarrush/Joe Algeri
split 7" is out today on Rhythm Barrel records and contains two new tracks which you can't afford to miss: "3 Chords For Joe" and "Summer Love". Get your damn euros on the counter now - the disc is the one with the cute monkey and "Hey Motherfucker!" text on the cover! (Webmaster)

OK, so we've been M.I.A lately... But we're coming out of our hibernation this coming week, with the split 7" coming out and us "touring" Finland with Joe Algeri and Ben's Diapers. This will actually be Joe's farewell tour of Scandinavia, he's moving back to Oz... The Official Release Date of the 7" is 2/5, so you guys will have to come see us play either in Vaasa or Turku and buy the dang thing while it's fresh!
Other things worthy of yer interest; "Booty Call", a gig favorite for some time now, is likely to be on a compilation Australia's Popboomerang records is putting together... Lotta action on the southern hemisphere. Also, the batch of new songs we've mentioned before has seen some serious arranging and re-arranging, and we're discussing dates to start recording these, but more on that at a later hour... Smoke on the water... Yesterday we heard from our japanese friends again, who we had started to suspect had fallen off the face of the earth. Turns out they've started a sister label called Egging, and are releasing, among others, Sweden's The Drowners' singles. Which is great, since they're actually one of my fave bands! Anyway, it seems that the compilation-thingy we discussed with them earlier is actually happening. Big in Japan... We might even be featured on another compilation put together on the other side of the globe, but more on that later. Yesterday me and Paati got down and dirty with Julle and Ove, i.e Graceskull; though we were supposed to be rehearsing some new Graceskull material, most of the evening was spent jamming on some classic rock riffs, "Black Knight" and "Hey Joe" being the standouts. Ove displayed some mad skills on the keys! Sure hope Sugarjussi's rehearsals this coming weekend don't turn out this way... (Andy J.)

Nothin' much noteworthy happeneing, noodling away at home, tinkering with our new tunes, but the R'n'R gals have been at it; check out some new pics at rocknrolltoy.net. Over and out, näkyy reeneissä. (Andy J.)

Do you think I bring my papers to Turku, xxxxx?! Back from Turku, where fun was had by any and all, I hope. Cartoon Tree were great, lotsa beautiful new songs, Daisy made the girls dance and we had fun on stage. The definite high point of the evening was still The Leroys from Fame's gig; though it seemed that the Turku natives didn't enjoy the gig quite so wholeheartedly, boy, we sure did. For a while there, for me at least, it seemed that the Leroys were the greatest band to walk the face of the earth. Their comment: "C'mon guys, I didn't laugh at YOUR band!" I also gave the master to our forthcoming 7" to Mr. Rhythmbarrel, and despite his state, he managed not to lose it, and even claimed to have listened to it on Sunday. So now it seems this thing should come out this spring, as promised. Strange. (Andy J.)
|

| |
Due to reasons that don't seem to be quite clear, our gig in Pori is cancelled, but come see us the following week in Turku instead! "One by one" by Foo Fighters rocks, shoulda gotten it earlier... (Andy J.)

Springtime, springtime! The gig in Helsinki city went dandy, thanks once again to Andy and the rest of them Mojo-boys. After the gig I found out that the guy who mixed us used to be in Sick Things International, whose first record I STILL think rocks like hell, I practically wore it out when it came out. A small world... FLB shot some great photos of the gig, which will probably end up on the site soon, along with some other promised additions... Our drive home proved a bit complicated; somewhere near Jalasjärvi the stereo stopped working. Soon enough, the lights dimmed out, too, and as we swung in to a gas station, the engine died. Turns out that the charger had broken, without even flashing the warning-light. To make a long story short, we found a repairman, but he didn't have the right kind of a spare part, so our journey home was completed in a taxi. Thank god our van was a rental... P.S. I finally bought the record I've been wanting for some 10-odd years: My Bloody Valentine's Loveless. I've only had time to listen to it once, but it seems to have been worth the wait... (Andy J.)

Yeah yeah, I know we haven't been updating or doing much anything net-related lately, but stuff is on it's way... In the meantime, be sure to check out the rather stylish addition to our shop-page!! And don't forget friday's Club Mojo in Semifinal!! (Andy J.)

Ja taas opetellaan suomea. Cocks! Cocks! Cocks! Cocks! Cocks! Cocks! Vaasa Rock Cocks voitti kaikki Turussa viikonloppuna Salibandyn Rock-SM –kisoissa. Tai ei nyt ihan, mutta melkein. Oltiin jopa pronssiottelussa, sekin hävittiin, mutta hienosti pelattiin. Oltiin loppujen lopuks neljänsiä. Turkukin sai naamaan 5-0! Kaheksan jengiä oli yhteensä mukana. Ei ollenkaan paskasti noin pienellä amatööriryhmällä, tollasten pro-sählääjien seassa. Cocks! Ja perjantaina Semifinalin lavalla kuullaan pari uutta hittiä ja nähdään mun uus kuuskielinen basso... Sinne. Hei vaan. (Coma)

Hello boys, hello girls. There is a lot going on with the Sugarrush at the
moment; we've just been into studio, the long waited X-mas surprise is on
its way and stuff like that. I'm sure Andy J. will tell you more about
those things, but all I'm thinking about right now is the Rock-SM
sählyturnaus (to be held in Turku this weekend)! Paati and me are playing in Vaasa's own Vaasa Rock Cocks
team, together with the boys from lovely Firevision and Mr. Myyrä from
Vapaapudotus. Come and see us play!
(Coma)
|

| |
Stay tuned for a special X-mas surprise on this site, as soon as our webmaster gets his shit togetha... Also, be sure to check out yours truly and Coma performing "We're not gonna take it" at Amarillos "Just Say No"-type-charity event, this saturday (14/12). (Andy J.)
|

| |
Howdy-ho! Yeah babies, our acoustic gig last Sunday went down in the usual somewhat shambolic fashion, what with some minor technical setbacks (among which a rather musical squeal from Coma's mic throughout the whole gig, and no, I DON'T mean his singing...). The crowd had apparently gotten themselves in good spirits by pouring spiritus down their throats, because they did not want us to quit even after our 1st encore. We had no choice but to MAKE them want us to quit, by means of performing "Jee, jee...", which turned into a huge singalong. I just realized that we performed THREE songs during the set that namecheck Jesus. Sweet Lord, we've become a gospel band...
P.S For us, the highlight of the gig was definitely playing "Etsit muijaa seuraavaa"...
(Andy J.)
|

| |
Ho ho! X-mas gettin near... Me and Paati, along with the drive-tech FLB, combed home the victory in El Gringo's annual Suomipop-visa. Along with glory, we were also awarded with enough booze to probably make Paati feel like shit at tonight's rehearsals for next sunday's gig...
Lately I've been listening to this George Lee record I got in the mail the other day. It's really getting under me skin. If George ever makes it big, like Wham! did, remember where you read about it first... Now get out there and buy us some Christmas gifts! (Andy J.)
|

| |
Well, our traditional New Year's gig's confirmed, so be sure to drag those trim bottoms to Amarillo then, gals! Oh yeah, me and Paati (along with them boys from Firevision and Graceskull) saw Kent last saturday (thanx Tiilikka!). A nice gig, if somewhat on the non-rocking side. Even the soundman seemed to be asleep during half the gig, it was almost impossible to hear Sami's solos. Also on the nominated-list are the Melody Club, for the gayest stage show this side of The Ark. Gay still means happy, right? Over and out. (Andy J.)
|

| |
Okay, anyone who's ever enjoyed our band's music, or anything other than Shakira played on the radio, go here, and give Räkärodeo your support. This band probably wouldn't exist without the show, and we definitely wouldn't be what and where we are without Miettinen. Respect
(Andy J.)
|

| |
Ai, kuis viihde? Updates on the site! New dates in the gig-schedule, so get yer calendars out, girlz! Apart from that, we've mostly been arranging and practicing the 30-odd songs we've written since we last set foot in a recording studio. Oh yeah, I finally got that Ben Kweller record. The word that comes to mind is "nice"; nuthin' groundbreaking, but overall a very pleasant album. That's about it for today, kids, ta ta. (Andy J.)
|

| |
So Vesa wusn't that badly damaged by his hanging out with us... Or maybe he was, see for yourselves: Go check out his Top-50 records of all time (follow the link below). (Andy J.)
|

| |
MITÄ!!?! So we're back from J-kylä, and the Graceskull gig went mighty fine, apart from some minor communication problems, and my lousy playing throughout the whole gig... After the gig we kidnapped Vesa, a Jyväskylä local and moderator of the excellent one chord to another-site, and forced him to sit in our van while we cruised the streets listening to Accept, Dio and choice cuts from Viktor Hurmio & Fetknopparna... The word headbanging got a whole new meaning, as the rockmonkey got so excited by Accepts "Midnight Mover" that he repeatedly banged his head against the van's roof.
After this episode we entered Jyväskylä's nightlife, still holding Vesa in our grasp. Inside the club, which may or may not have been called Freetime, we engaged in our peculiar brand of "humor", which, among other things, had us grunting like pigs. In public. Poor Vesa still didn't seem to have a clue as to what the hell he'd gotten himself mixed up with... Sorry Vesa!
After a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast we put ourselves in the care of our logistics dep., the FLB. On our way back home we managed to re-write the lyrics to P.O.D's "youth of the nation" to a somewhat more commercial form, while the professional staff of Anttila's Top Ten-department thought the Afghan Whigs sounded both like Bon Jovi AND Nordman. Scary. (Andy J.)
|

| |
Summer here kids! Well, actually quite the opposite. We're supposed to play an acoustic set in D.O.M in Vaasa sometime next month, date will appear when we know it. We're only playing this gig because of the Finnish national football team's loss against Netherlands last Sunday. Now, you might say that such a game never took place, but it did. Oh, it's true. Just ask Paati and his big mouth. Now which R'n'B artist will we play a cover by this time, having already done Sisqo and Prince? Wait and see... Other newsitem worthy of interest is that we're gonna record a few songs with Mr. Hiilesmaa just a few days before Christmas. One of these will, along with the already recorded "Three chords for Joe", appear on a split 7" with Joe Algeri that Rhythm Barrel Records will release. The release date is probably January 2003, so you'd better save some of that money you get from granny for Christmas, kids!
...oh yeah, almost forgot: If you happen to be in Jyväskylä for the weekend, come see Graceskull play with what is almost the full Sugarjussi lineup: Paati on drums, Coma's bass and yours truly playing it! (Andy J.)
|

| |
Halleluja, brothers and sisters! This past weekend saw the Sugarrush down in the rehearsal studio, where the aforementioned forgotten practice of writing songs together, with each adding bits and pieces, is starting to bear fruit, big time! I, at least, feel that we're getting out of the creative rut we've recently dwelled in... The rock grooves better and the pop chimes sweeter than in a long while. The grooving part might have something to do with Paati's ongoing stint as Graceskull's gigging drummer, which apparently has made him push his limits. Goody goody gum drops. Listening to QOTSA, still no Ben Kweller... (Andy J.)

Big city nights. Just have to tell you that I saw Velvetcut live in
Semifinal, Helsinki last night. Didn't expect too much, but I walked out
of the club with a big smile on my face. Great songs. And off course I
enjoyed watching Jorma's own guitar show. Sexy and dangerous. Thank you
boys. (Coma)

I somehow managed to fuck up yesterday's entry, so let's try this again; a dear friend of ours, Olli Linna, aka Elliot Scale, sadly passed away on monday. In case you didn't know Olli, let's just say that the world lost not only a great musician but a loveable, big-hearted man. They say the best die young... Rest in peace, Olli. (Andy J.)

| |
Yee-haw! I just read about Joe Algeri having finished recording his song for our forthcoming split-7"! We, on the other hand, will unfortunately NOT be recording our contribution until later, due to the fact that our producer Hiili is just starting production for HIM's (or should it read HER's?) fourth album. So don't hold your breath, yet... Our rehearsal studio got upgraded BIG time this week, when we got our new Behringer Eurorack 2642 mixer. I sincerely hope the improved audibility of vocals in some way translates to better singing... Can't blame a guy for hoping, right? On songwriting front, we've tried to get back to our old habit of trading bits 'n pieces of songs, as we regularly did during the Blackie's Wig- period. We're yet to see what we end up with this time. OK kids, take care! (Andy J.)

Wellwell, kids. It seems our songs have gathered attention outside these shores, as a song of ours is to be on a compilation Japan's 1977 records (www.1977records.com) is putting together. More on that later...
I'd also like to announce that I've bought a beautiful new guitar, that those of you who attended our Kent-gig may have seen. It's an Ibanez Talman, the Jazzmasterish-looking model, finished in gorgeous blue sparkle with a mother-of-pearl pickguard. The guitar's previous owner was kind enough to install Seymour Duncan's '59 pickups in it, PLUS it's got a Bigsby trem. Lovely. Enough of the muso bullshit, we're actually gonna get down to business this weekend, I've got a kicking new song Coma hasn't even heard, and I'm pretty sure he hasn't been resting on his laurels either...
Apart from the obvious rehearsals, we're also gonna do something this weekend that I'm pretty excited about at the moment: We're gonna listen to The Flaming Lips' Zaireeka album, four stereos and all. Should be interesting. More on that, too, later. Over and out. (Andy J.)

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! Or maybe not. We however survived the rock-futis tournament in Rauma
last weekend. Paati and me played with Vaasa's very own FC Welmu. We played five
games, lost four of them and oh yeah, we won one. I still can't walk properly and my
neck hurts, but we had fun indeed, though some of FC Welmu players should pay their
moms a visit and ask how to behave in public places. The after party scene was
pretty interesting but I'm sorry boys and girls, you can't talk about everything -
not even here. This weekend The Sugarrush will be rehearsing some new hits at the
Sugarfactory Megastudios and I'd like to inform that my favorite song at the moment
is Alphaville's Big In Japan. More about that later. Take care. (Coma)

Hello girls and boys. Busy weekend that started already on Thursday, when Andy and
Paati performed as a rytmiryhmä for the mighty Graceskull in Amarillo, Vaasa. Great
gig. That's what the boys told me. On Friday it was time for both Graceskull and
the Sugarrush to share Amarillo's stage and play some Kent covers. After a bit stiff
beginning even this gig turned out to be one those fun ones and everybody was
satisfied, at least after couple of Jallu-shots. We even had FLB running around
Amarillo with a video camera in his hand, which usually is quite a bad idea, because
everything tends to sound or look just terrible afterwards, but this time we sounded alright
and looked even better. You can find some fine pictures from the gig from
selfdestruct.net
and a bit more detailed report of the weekend by Ove from
www.graceskull.com. By the way,
if you want to see Paati and me on the football field you should come to Rauma 24.08. when
we play some rock-futis with the Vaasa's own Welmu-team. See you there or somewhere else.
Hau hau. (Coma)

Yes, we know, it's been a while. Let's blame it on the sunny weather and street
golf. But believe it or not, between those games we've been writing new songs and
spending some time at the Sugarfactory Megastudios rehearsing them. Some of the
songs sound pretty good and the rest sound even better. We've also been spending time
in that same Megastudio together with the boys from Graceskull playing songs by a
Swedish boy band called Kent. We'll play those songs live to the boys and girls of
our dear hometown on 9.8. in Amarillo. And we hope to see even your pretty face in
the front row. Now it's gettin' hot in herre and I'll take off all my clothes and
reveal my endless story and my territory.
And this is the situation in street golf sarjataulukko at the moment:
1. Paati 6498 points 2. Coma 5032 points 3. Ove 2866 points 4. Kaitsu 2666 points 5.

Wellwell, this summers busiest gig-weekend is behind us, here's the lowdown: Friday saw us dragging our sweet bottoms to Club 25, where Design 19 celebrated the release of their debut album, Trigger. Likainen spun some discs, again with great taste, but the highlight of the evening wuz definitely Ohio Total (aka.Ilkka from Graceskull & Eeka from Design 19) Man, that was some sweet blues the boys were playing...
On saturday, we loaded our gear into Tapsa's car and drove the shortest way we've ever had to drive to a gig. This, however, didn't stop us from being every bit as late as usual. The gig we played may have suffered from the lack of a proper-sized audience, what with the HUGE gap between us and them and all, but the 50-odd people who actually showed up seemed to enjoy the show, so what the heck? A big thumbs up to the arrangers, never before have we been met with such quantities of free beer, EVIAN (the king of waters) for on-stage use, a chauffeur for transport to the city and overall great attitudes. (as opposed to the usual I-hate-my-life-and-want-to-die-and-I-think-YOU'RE-responsible-4-that)
Sunday, bloody sunday. Watery sunday might be a better word for it, for on our way down to Turku, we had to drive through something that might have sent old Noah shopping for a boat... We survived, though, largely thanks to some brand new Place-2-Go demos we found in the car we were driving (thanks Steelin!). In Turku, during our lengthy soundcheck, Julius somehow managed to coax some sweet sounds out of the club's shitty PA. This task would've been damn near impossible for us to do on our own, and Julius wasn't even sure if he was gonna come! We're happy he did, even though he might be out of a job 'cause of that... Come time for the show, the place was packed and the great audience made us play a rocking and very sweaty gig. They even made us come back TWICE for encores. As for whether the people in Turku understood our second encore: "Jee,jee...", let's just put it this way: The people in there didn't seem in touch with their spirituality. After the gig we discussed some future plans with Mr. Rhythm Barrel and witnessed a VERY drunken Martin Sköld (from Kent) trying to play Paati's drums. Now being part of a rhythm section DOESN'T mean you know how to play drums, right? No offence, we love kent as much as you do. Vaasa's "hevein mies" Nicke showed us great hospitality by inviting us over to his place for some sweet music (including "Rico Suave" by Gerardo) and wine (including tequila). No-one remembered to put the Rock-monkey in his cage after the gig, and this resulted in some broken glasses, sore limbs and a minor dispute over money. In other words, fun was had by all. Thanks, Nicke!
A few hours of sleep and a delicious meal at Pizza Hut later, we were back on our way towards Vaasa, where a round of Streetgolf waited. (Andy J.)

As you all know we are playing at Rockperry festival in Vaasa City next Saturday 6.7.. Show time is around 17.30., just before Tommi Läntinen! And then on Sunday 7.7. we’ll play in Dynamo, Turku. We have no idea of the show time. All we know is, that we are playing upstairs and we’ll rock like fuck. So be there or at least tell us where you live, so we can come and pick you up. (Coma)

Ja sitten kissapolitiikan pariin. It was the Midsummer, oh yeah it was. Feeling pretty much the same as the Monday after Provinssirock. Our Midsummer included some street golf action, of course. This time it was Paati, Kaitsu, Ilkka, FLB, Coma and Ove on the field. But when it was time for the first strikes there was no Ove around anymore. I guess it was the pressure of the game that forced him to go home. Well the game was exciting like always. And the points: Paati 1000, Kaitsu 666, Coma 500, Ilkka 400 and Fläbä 300. On Friday and Saturday we stayed on the fast line of the boulevard of rock’n’roll. We for example made a nice cruise to Kala Janne with M/S Tiira (Thank you Timppa) and saw a dirty little strip tease show by Peppe at Vaasa Rules festival. On Sunday we played our annual Midsummer acoustic set at Sky-Bar. That crazy and very loud audience even made us play “Jee Jee Jeesus” once again. We are sorry and we love you all. (Coma)

Don’t forget that we are playing our traditional and unbelievable acoustic show even this year at SKY BAR (Vaasa) this Sunday. See you there. (Coma)

Most everyone will receive some sort of thanks for their patience...Also, the Sugarstore will start shipping orders on a weekly basis, so no-one will longer have to wait for months. (Sorry Julius!)

It is not easy to wake up this early on Monday morning, specially after Provinssirock. I arrived to Seinäjoki quite late on Friday night and saw only couple of Röyksopp songs. After that we headed over to the city center of Seinäjoki to a place called Duuni to see Rollstons and Sweatmaster live. And did they rock? Oh yes they did. Then back to our “hotel” (thank you Sami!) and just when it was time for the sandman to walk in to the room the phone rang. It was our good friend Tami from the Poko Records who needed some action in his quiet hotel room. Well Tami, you called the right number. Ove, Paati and I drove over to Sorsanpesä. Paati got some bruises to his stomach and I banged my head in to a table after some smooth dance moves. Well done boys. On Saturday it was time for Varjoprovinssi. A little festival in Samis backyard. First Graceskull (Ove, Ilkka, Julius and Paati) played some beautiful songs including a great version of Bad Religions Scyscraper. After Graceskull the Sugarrush climbed to the stage in not-so-ordinary line-up. Andy came to Seinäjoki so late on Saturday night, that we (Paati, Ove and Coma) had to play a gig without Andy for the first time. It went just nice. And the great audience even made us play that “jee jee jeesus” –song. Jee Jee. And then to the festival area where we saw the Ark. And man they were good. Great songs, good looking guys and a great show. What else can you ask. Any other bands that got my ass to shake? Slayer, Sara, Motorhomes and Hellacopters. We even had Varjoprovinssijatkot on Saturday night, where we for example played “Jee Jee Jeesus” about 4 time, last time buttnaked. Beautiful! Risto otti ja joi liikaa boolia. We love you all. Goodnight. (Coma)

Hurt Shoulder here with MTV News. Fridays rehearsal was supposed to be a quick run through the Hietskurock setlist, but somehow we managed to stay in our little basement till 2AM in the morning. The main reason for stretched rehearsal was a new great song made by Andy J. himself, that we had to play over and over again. And about 3AM it was time for some streetgolf once again. This time there was Ove, Paati, Coma and FLB, who by the way played this beautiful game for the very first time, on the field. I don’t know should I blame the weather, my club or my ugly playmates, but believe it not I lost the game. Paati took home 1000, and OVE!!!!! (how is this possible) 666 points, FLB 500 and I was left with 400 points. This means that I’m now sharing the second place on the sarjataulukko with Ove. On Saturday it was time for some serious rock’n’roll which this time meant a gig in Hietasaarirock. A great festival in our hometown’s little Hietasaari. It was good and tight gig, with not too much laughing and fooling around. Well done boys. And we even got to write some autographs for the girls in the front row. Nice. (Coma)

Super, super. It was a busy weekend for our little band. On Friday we rehearsed for the upcoming Hietasaarirock gig. Can’t really remember much what happened, maybe because nothing much did happen. We came up with one new song, that sounded pretty good. And we even got Ove (who is of course playing guitar on the gig) to sing some harmonies on the chorus. It sounded great. It actually sounded so good, that we're gonna start the gig with this new song. I think it could be called “Free Willy” or “Free Diddy”. Or maybe just “Hadeveista Padeveiska”. Kyllä kyllä. Later on Friday night it was finally time to open the Street Golf season 2002. This summer's first route was from Karhupuisto to “vankilan ovi”. Quite a short game but good enough to get the season going. And the results: The winner was Kena with 16 strikes and 1000 points. Paati and Coma shared the second place with 21 strikes and 666 points. Ove took home 400 points, Ilkka 300 and Kaitsu 200. We rehearsed again on Saturday and this time in a better shape. We did the setlist and played it through few times and drove to Pietarsaari to see Creamstar and Eskobar play live at After Eight. Of course we were late and managed to hear only Cremstar's bass player Eero shouting “let’s get fucking crazy” or something like that in the end of the last song, so unfortunately Creamstar didn’t drive us crazy this time. But what about Eskobar then? I think it’s the same thing with Eskobar that it is with Dr. Pepper - toiset tykkää, toiset ei. To make it short, it was a nice little gig, with good looking boys, a monkey playing some funky bass and nice songs. See you in Hietasaarirock. (Coma)

Rock My Heavy! Under that title we (Paati, Andy J., Coma, Ove and Ilkka) played some great records in Papin Nenä on Friday night. It's always great to play bands like Iron Maiden and Twisted Sister in a club where you usually hear more beat orientated music. One fact is that headbangers don't dance, so the dance floor was not full of people all the time, but I remember seeing some ass-shakes on the floor anyway. A fun night. Yep. On Saturday we found ourselves in the Sugarfactory Megastudios in a quite strange - or if not strange then at least new - line-up, playing some great songs from a great band. This means that we were rehearsing for a up-coming
cover-show. Maybe we should keep this as a secret for a while. And later that night Kent played a splendid show in Rewell Center and those songs
sounded very familiar somehow. Don't know why. It surely was one of the best gigs I've seen this year. Tack ska ni ha, pojkar. (Coma)

Holy Mother of God!!! Yes, the new Star Wars was that good! Highlight of the film for me was definitely Yoda's moves in the heat of battle, which would be best described with the finnish saying "nyt on vittu irti!". Music? Yeah yeah, we'll practice this weekend... (Andy J.)

Today's the day!!! Attack of the Clones!!! I'm excited as f**k!!! On a more musical note, the new Weezer album is already affecting my songwriting; it made me dump my original guitar-ideas for two new songs, namely "6/4" and "Britney" and replace them with heavier stuff. We're talking heavier as in spandex and leather and puffed-up hair, you know? Oh well. PaNe, 17/5, Rock My Hevi! (Andy J.)

Can you dig it, sucka? We had a great weekend in Mikkeli, where we visited Jani "Plutski" Lehtonen and played a little acoustic gig in his pub. The
gig was played during Friday's Finland vs. Sweden hockey game or actually we played five songs on the second period break, then watched the final
period and after a terrible final result played eight songs more. And if I remember right we even played two encores. Thank you, you beautiful people. The next two days were filled with laughter, drinks, sauna, rock-aerobic, hot-tubs and some great and not-so-great bars that Mikkeli had to offer. First time ever we had a video camera with us but to be honest, I have not had the courage to watch through those tapes yet. There might be some clips from the gig on these pages sometime soon but once again, no promises can be made. Now we are looking forward to Friday night, when the Graceskull DJ's and friends (that would be us then) are spinning some great discs in Papin Nenä, Vaasa. You are most welcome.

Wellwell. Mikkeli. We came, we saw, we rocked. (not necessarily in that order, tho') Despite our decision not to disturb the Finnish team by playing during the game, they still got their asses kicked by the Swedes. Darn. Anyways, we had fun, hope you did too. On a completely unrelated note, the anthem of the summer is definitely Weezer's "Take Control". If you haven't bought "Maladroit" yet, do it now. The shun is ssining.

P.S. Those of you who have ordered/won stuff from us, be patient, you'll get yours, we've just been out of shirts 4 a while, and our supplier hasn't had any panties...

Hello ladies and playmates. Just a few words on what is happening with the sugarjussi at the moment. We have been quite sportish, to be honest. Andy had some outdoor activities with his skateboard last weekend and somewhere between handplants and flippaflappas (or what ever they are) he landed on his knee. So once again he's walking on crutches. Coma has been walking around Europe with his not-so-comfortable Converse shoes and you can be sure that Paati the Rock Monkey has been watching every ice hockey game that's been on the telly. Some minor action on the musical side too. We have discussed a split single with Joe Algeri. The thing is that we have a song called Three Chords for Joe, a song about Joe Algeri and now we heard that Joe is writing a song about us as we speak. We are really honored by that fact that Joe is really writing a song about us because he's a great songwriter, a funny guy and he has - or at least once had - a beautiful moustache. But like always no decision has yet been made and anything can happen. And this time it's really up to us to make things happen, so you can never be too sure. See you in Mikkeli you little kikkeli. Öydi sköydi böydi! That was the Swedish chef saying hello to all you superjussi fans. On Saturday we tried to get our acoustic set together for the gig in Mikkeli on 10.5. We played trough some songs that we thought might work unplugged. Well, some did and some really didn't. Briskly we played a couple of songs even twice and I am afraid that the band might be even in too good shape this time...
So if you are living in or somewhere near Mikkeli, please do come over. It's gonna be a real rock circus because we even got a monkey with us. (Coma)

A handful of photos added to the - you guessed it - photo-section. They are fine on stage shots from last year's Hietasaarirock and taken by Janne Kauranen. Click 'em up! (Webmaster)

And you thought we are stupid. Well you ain't seen nothing yet. Or actually you've seen a lot if you saw us playing in our hometown Vaasa on Saturday. We really maximized our stupidity on stage that night. More about that later. Nature Sucks Anyway Tour started on Thursday from Sky-Bar, where Graceskull played some nice songs to the free-beer drinking people. After nice songs and free beers, Leopold Delloria made the girls restless downstairs in Amarillo. Good songs, nice boys, great band. We started our show with Paati's "rokkiapina-intro". It surely was the best part of the gig. I think we should turn that thing in to a song. Or why bother, 'cos it already is a song and a good one too. The gig itself went alright, I guess. A lot of people showed up, although it was Thursday night. But like someone said, when the Sugarrush is in the house, it's always a Saturday night. The
sound could have been better, but thanks to that free beer served earlier on, the audience was too drunk to notice anything.
On Friday we drove our tour-bus to the next block, to Club 25. Graceskull once again started the evening with a great show, this time full sized, Paati behind drums and Jocke with his dashing boots on bass. I'm sure Leopold Delloria played a great gig, although I only saw one or two songs, 'cos we were too busy writing the setlist and singing about American music backstage. Paati was joking about Jocke jumping on stage during some Sugarrush song to take Andy's guitar and play a classic guitar solo. And like always with the Sugarrush, even this joke turned in to reality in one minute. We decided that Jocke would do that during Everlasting. And oh yeah he really did it. I remember seeing at least someone in the audience with an open mouth thinking what the fuck was going on. Well it was just "Mr. Kulju stealing the show" kinda thing that was going on. We played the sweaty show through, but the lovely audience wanted to hear one more song. We played a song called Jee Jee Jeesus. A great new hit, if you ask us. There are only two words in that song - Jee and Jeesus. And for a big surprise to the band, Ilkka, Jocke, Julius and Leopold Delloria shared the stage with us in the middle of the song. I really had a
Band Aid feeling, and believe me, now everyone in the audience had their mouth op
